چکیده
The recyclability of waste cooking oil (WCO) as rejuvenator for aged asphalt mixture improved the serviceability pavement itself. Currently, researcher is exploring new potential WCO modifier binder modification. However, issue compatibility properties in modification with arises since poor mechanical performance globally recorded thus reflected weakness adhesion bonding inside material. Basically, superior asphaltic concrete exhibited good between binder-aggregates interaction bituminous mixture. In fact, high adhesiveness binding affected by chemical theory which mostly related to polarity factor. Therefore, it vital conduct analysis and microstructure observation obtain a comprehensive understanding polar group behaviour internal structure material that influencing structural arrangement excellent capable improving Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). identification composition determination was identified using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS). Meanwhile, measurement binder-aggregate interactions observed Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) physically resulting conducting resilient modulus test, dynamic creep test indirect tensile strength (ITS) test. Results showed incompatibility characteristic revealed untreated conventional (PEN 60/70) based on non-polar compounds interaction. Infrared Thermography Revolutionizes Hot-Mix Asphalt Paving
Hot-mix asphalt (HMA) surfaces comprise about 90% of the highways and roads in the U.S. Highways and are typically engineered to last 15 years or more, but many have been failing early due to potholes, cracks, raveling, and other problems. This premature road failure unnecessarily wastes millions of taxpayer dollars every year. This paper describes a series of research studies that were conduct...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Relationships between Waste Cooking Oil Qualities and Rejuvenated Asphalt Properties
Waste cooking oil (WCO), in many cases, can rejuvenate aged asphalt and restore its properties. However, the influence of WCO qualities on rejuvenation behaviors of aged asphalt has not been investigated in detail. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the effects of WCO viscosity and acid value on the basic, rheological, and chemical properties of a typical rejuvenated asphalt. Penetrati...

Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) is an appropriate insulating material for high-voltage cables which has been widely used as electrical cable coating. In this study, Crushed XLPE wastes with different volume percentages (25, 50, and 75%) were used in hot mix asphalt (HMA) as a substitute for fine aggregates remained on sieve no. 8 whose size varies from 1.18 to 2.36 mm. Road distress results in high maintenance costs. However, increased understandings of asphalt behaviour and properties coupled with technological developments have allowed paving technologists to examine the benefits of introducing additives and modifiers. As a result, polymers have become extremely popular as modifiers to improve the performance of the asphalt mix. This study investigates the ...
متن کاملStudy of Compaction in Hot-Mix Asphalt Using Computer Simulations
During the process of compaction in Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) mixtures, the distance between aggregate particles decreases as they come together and eliminate air-voids. By measuring the inter-particle distances in a cut-section of a HMA sample the degree of compaction can be estimated. For this, a calibration curve is generated by computer simulation technique when the gradation and asphalt conten...
